Santiago Canyon College was created as Santa Ana College’s satellite campus in Orange, California in 1985. The original location’s adjacent property has witnessed further development and annexation in recent years. The college bought properties on Martha Lane in the late 1970s the properties were located south of the first campus – the land is now a part of the institution’s parking lot. SAC hosts the Middle College High School this is Santa Ana Unified School District’s small alternative high school where students can earn both their high school diploma and their associate of arts degree at once. In 1945, a bond issue was passed, thus making way for the development of a 48 acre land, which is the institution’s present location. In 1933, the Santa Ana High School building was damaged by an earthquake this prompted the campus move to a new location on North Main Street, where it remained before it moved again in 1947. It was Orange County’s second community college, located at the back of Fullerton College, and is California’s 4th oldest community college.
